Twinkle has been updated to version 6.0, adding new features, new colors, and Android support.
About Twinkle
This app allows you to set and keep track of upcoming and past events. Twinkle will tell you how far away an event is, and share it with a friends through social networks. The app includes an number of options for sorting or filtering your views in order to allow you to easily be able to manage and share a large number of different events.
New in version 6.0
The biggest new feature is the added support for Android phones. Designed to conform with Google’s material design guidelines, the fully native android app has been completely rethought for the platform.
BlackBerry 10 users will get two new background colors (Brown and Teal), in addition to fixing a bug that previously prevented changes to the filters to last between app restarts. Also, the details line is now hidden when the event doesn’t have any details.
Users of traditional BBOS phones have not been left out either, as that version of Twinkle has been updated to version 4.3 to give access to the two new colors.
Twinkle has been updated to version 5.4 in BlackBerry World. This update adds support for the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic, sets a custom theme color for users on OS 10.3, and fixes a date releated bug.

In order to send an event to Twinkle from the native calendar app, just open the event and then select the ‘Share’ option from the menu. This will give you a list of applications (including Twinkle) that you can share the event to. Twinkle will then pre-populate the fields as if you were to manually create a new event.
Twinkle has been updated to version 5.2 in BlackBerry World for all BlackBerry 10 phones. This update fixes a few bugs and also optimizes the app and gives it a smaller install size.

Back in 2010, around this time I was doing the first design work for the Twinkle app. While Twinkle has grown to include many features, it started off pretty simple with the design only taking up a third of a page, as shown below.
Twinkle has been updated to version 4.1 in BlackBerry AppWorld. The biggest new feature in this version, is the ability to filter your view, to only show events that are a given color, or a certain date. You can also now permanently delete synced events, and some elements have had their visual appearance improved.
About Twinkle
Twinkle is an app that allows you to set and keep track of upcoming and past events. Twinkle will tell you how far away an event is, and share it with a friends through BBM, Facebook, and Twitter. Additionally Twinkle offers full integration with the native calendar, allowing you to either synchronize events, or to import/export them from one app to another.
New Filtering options
A new “Filter Options” listing has been added to the menu to allow you to filter the events that you see. You have the option of filtering events based on the background color assigned to the events. You can also set up filters based on the date of the event, showing either all dates, events in the past or just events in the future.
Version 4.0 of Twinkle has been released in BlackBerry AppWorld. This new version adds synchronization with existing calendars, improved sharing over BBM, and an alternate order for displaying events.

Additionally Twinkle offers full integration with the native calendar, allowing you to either synchronize events, or to import/export them from one to another. You can also import your friend’s birthdays from the contacts app.
New: Calendar Synchronization
Version 4.0 of Twinkle offers a new page to allow you to synchronize an existing calendar with Twinkle. This can be done on a per calendar basis, and allows you the option to exclude previous events. Changes are synced across the apps, and will automatically be removed if the calendar is unsynched.
New: Improved BBM Sharing
Twinkle has allowed events to be shared over BBM since version 3.0 of the app. However in the newest version of Twinkle you can now share events with your BBM friends even if they don’t yet have Twinkle installed on their device. Users of BB7 devices can also post events to Facebook and Twitter.
New: Closest First Sorting
By default Twinkle orders events by placing events in chronological order. However if you don’t like to delete past events (or set them to automatically expire) the top events would have all taken place in the distant past. Version 4.0 offers the option of a “Closest First” sort order where events are sorted based on their proximity to the current date. This way the events on the top of the screen are always the most relevant ones.
Twinkle has been updated to version 3.3 in BlackBerry AppWorld. This new version adds the ability to import Birthdays from contacts, additional ways to share events, random color selection, some stability improvements, and improvements to bulk importing of existing events.
Importing Birthdays from Contacts
You can now select a friend from your contacts, and if you already have their birthday included in their info, you can select “Add Birthday to Twinkle” from the menu, the contacts birthday will automatically show up in Twinkle.
Share events through Facebook and Twitter
Users with running OS 7.0 or higher now have additional options for sharing events. In addition to sharing events over BBM as before, you can now also share events over Facebook, Twitter, and E-mail.
While BBM is still the preferred way to share events, those looking to post things more widely will appreciate the ability to post an event as a status update to one of these social networking sites.
Random colors
Also new in this version of Twinkle is the ability to set the default color to random on the options screen. The result of this is that any new event you create, or import to Twinkle will be given a random color. If you don’t like the color that was selected, you can also change the color by editing the event. The colors of events that are already in Twinkle will not be affected.
Import all from Calendar improvements
Version 3.2 added the ability to bulk import events from the calendar. This update refines the options some, by asking if you want to import all events, or just events from the future, or just from the past. As before you will be asked to confirm the number of events that you are adding to Twinkle, so you don’t accidentally import far more events then you intended to.
About Twinkle
Twinkle is a simple application that allows you to set and keep track of upcoming and past events, and (optionally) share them your friends. Twinkle will tell you how far away an event is, and allows you to send events to and from your BlackBerry’s native calendar, or to your friends on BBM. Twinkle gives you the ability to add and edit events, lets you keep track of how soon something is, or how long it has been since an event, and to search for all of these events through BlackBerry’s universal search. In recognition of this deep integration with the device, Twinkle was named a Regional Selections Winner in the 2010 BlackBerry Super Apps Challenge.
Twinkle is an app that allows you to set and keep track of upcoming and past events, and share them with your friends. The app is free and contains a small advertisement that can be removed through an in-app purchase.
Because fetching the advertisement requires a request to a server, we can look at ad requests in order to get a look at approximate how often Twinkle is being used. While the app was released about a year and a half ago, the last few months worth of ad requests are shown in the chart below.
Version 3.0 of Twinkle added the ability to share events with your friends over BBM. Based on the above graph can you see when this update was released?
The existence of the BBM API has fundamentally changed the nature of this app. It has gone from a simple date tracker with calendar integration, to a complete social experience. While you can still choose to not make use of the app’s social features, it appears that most people are. Version 3.3 of Twinkle (coming soon) will expand these social features ever further with OS7 devices also able to share Twinkle events over Twitter, FaceBook, and Email. The typical usage of this app has completely changed from just five months ago.

New in version 3.2
Version 3.2 makes it easier to import existing calender events into Twinkle. In addition to having the “Add to Twinkle” menu option when you highlight an event on the calendar, the “Add to Twinkle” menu option is now also available when you have opened the event itself.
Furthermore in the option page of Twinkle there is an option to “Import all from Calendar” (as seen to the right). This option allows you to add every single existing BlackBerry calender event to Twinkle. It is important to note that this is a bulk import feature, and NOT a sync feature. It will import all of your existing calender events even if they have already been added before.
Twinkle has been updated to version 3.1 in BlackBerry AppWorld. This new version improves stability to BlackBerry Messenger, and network connections.
About Twinkle

New in Version 3.1
There is very little in this version that looks different, but significant changes have been made in the program itself to ensure that sending events through BBM is more reliable. New features that were added in the recently released version 3.0 include sharing over BBM, and multi-language support.
RIM is currently testing a new version of BlackBerry AppWorld which makes a few changes to how apps are featured. One of the featured applications in this beta, is our own Twinkle which recently reached version 3.0 itself.
What is even more interesting is the way then new version of AppWorld features a few “categories” of apps as well. As such Twinkle is actually featured twice, because it can also be found under the “BBM Connected” group of apps that take advantage of the BBM SDK (as Twinkle now does).
The biggest change in version 3.0 is the separate games category which contains its own featured apps, and top 25 list.
